Appeals and complaints
The RANZCP is committed to reasonable, transparent, impartial and accountable decision-making in all its functions.
RANZCP appeals process
The Review, Reconsideration and Appeal Policy and Procedure (the Policy) applies to individuals who are dissatisfied with a decision of the RANZCP.
This applies to all RANZCP Members (including Trainees and SIMGs on the RANZCP Specialist Pathway to Fellowship) as well as individuals who are not members or candidates but who have applied to the RANZCP in relation to a RANZCP policy or procedure.
How to make an application
Before submitting an application, the RANZCP strongly recommends individuals to read the Policy for important information including:
- rights and responsibilities;
- application requirements, limitation dates and fees;
- grounds for review; and
- Potential outcomes.
An overview of the steps within the Policy is available via Review, Reconsideration and Appeal Pathway Flowchart.
Applications must be submitted to the CEO via legalservices@ranzcp.org
The point of entry will differ depending on the nature of the decision you wish to have reviewed:
Review - by the Education Review Committee (ERC) | If you have received an outcome or decision relating to a RANZCP Education or Training Policy or Procedure (including a recommendation for withdrawal), you may seek a Review. There is no fee to lodge an application for Review.
Reconsideration - by the Independent Reconsideration Panel (IRP) | If you have received an outcome of an application for Review by the ERC (above) and you remain dissatisfied, you may lodge an application for Reconsideration. OR If you are dissatisfied with a decision of the RANZCP or a RANZCP Committee (that does not relate to Education or Training), you may seek a Reconsideration at first instance. There is a prescribed fee in lodging an application for Reconsideration, as outlined in the application form.
Appeal - to the Appeals Committee | If you remain dissatisfied with the outcome of a Reconsideration, the final mechanism available is to lodge an application for Appeal. There is a prescribed fee in lodging an application for Appeal, as outlined in the application form. |
