Applying for exams and assessments
You must apply to the College before you can sit an exam, while the Scholarly Project and Psychotherapy Written Case assessments need to be submitted via email.
Timing
Exams and assessments are offered on particular dates throughout the year. They should be attempted at the appropriate stage in training, in consultation with your supervisor and/or Director of Training.
It's important to schedule your assessments around your other commitments, and to make sure you allow time to study and prepare.
Fees
There are fees associated with each assessment, payable at the time of application. Cancelling an application before an exam or assessment may attract a cancellation fee. Refer to the current Cancellation and refund schedule for details.
Applying for exams in InTrain
You can apply for most exams and assessments in InTrain, including:
- Multiple Choice Question Exam (MCQ)
- Critical Essay Question Exam (CEQ)
- Modified Essay Questions Exam (MEQ)
- Clinical Competency Assessment – Modified Portfolio Review

Submitting the Scholarly Project and Psychotherapy Written Case
Submissions for the Scholarly Project and Psychotherapy Written Case must be sent directly via email to the College.
Special consideration
If there are special circumstances that affect your ability to complete an exam or assessment, you may be eligible for special consideration. Make your request at the time of your application. You will need to make a new request each time you apply.
Application deadlines
Applications must be submitted by 5 pm (Melbourne time) on the day applications are scheduled to close. Late applications are not accepted.
