About Certificates of Advanced Training
Certificates of Advanced Training allow you to specialise in an area of psychiatry. Across all certificate programs you will complete a mix of supervised training, formal education via a course or self-directed learning, and workplace-based assessments.

Available Certificates
You can focus on:
- Addiction psychiatry
- Adult psychiatry
- Child and adolescent psychiatry
- Consultation-liaison psychiatry
- Forensic psychiatry
- Psychiatry of old age
- Psychotherapies
There is also the option to complete a dual certificate.
Duration
You are required to complete 24 months of full-time equivalent training to complete an Advanced Certificate.
There are some situations where you can have prior learning taken into account, which can reduce the amount of time it takes to complete a certificate. You can also complete certificates part-time, keeping in mind that the maximum timeframe to complete a Certificate is 6 calendar years.

Closing dates and the selection process are managed by your local branch training program.
Fees
You will need to pay:
- RANZCP annual training fees
- fees to the provider of formal education courses may be required.
