- Mental health legislation
Tu Te Akaaka Roa, the New Zealand National Committee, invites New Zealand members to provide their views on shifting to a capacity-based approach the Mental Health (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act 1992.
The new legislation is still being drafted but is likely to reflect a human rights-based approach which promotes supported decision-making and aims to increase whānau involvement. In preparation for a Select Committee hearing on the Bill and transition to a new Act, Tu Te Akaaka Roa would like to hear your views about the proposed changes and how we can best support our membership.
The survey will close on Wednesday 10 April 2024.
