During 2024, the following Position Statements, Professional Practice Guidelines and Clinical Memorandum have progressed and been approved by Board:
Position Statements updated:
- Position Statement 78: Engagement with the Pharmaceutical Industry
- Position Statement 97: E-cigarettes and Vaporisers
- Position Statement 45: Prevention and treatment of gambling-related harm
Position Statements created:
- Position Statement 114: Sexual safety- Prevention of sexual harm and protection of consumers/tangata whaiora in acute inpatient mental health services
- Position Statement 46: The provision of mental health services for asylum seekers and refugees
Professional Practice Guidelines updated:

Clinical Memorandum updated:
During 2024, the following Position Statements have been rescinded:
- Position Statement 52: Mental health needs of child asylum seekers and refugees
- Position Statement 70: Suicide Reporting in the Media
During 2024, the following Professional Practice Guidelines have been rescinded:
- Professional Practice Guideline 12: Guidance for psychiatrists working in Australian immigration detention centres
- Professional Practice Guideline 14: National codes and standards relevant to psychiatry practice and mental health services in Australia and New Zealand
During 2024, the following Position Statements have been extended.
- Position Statement 32: Abolition of torture and other inhuman treatment (PS32) (extended until 2027)
- Position Statement 88: Direct-to-consumer advertisement of Pharmaceuticals (extended until 2025)
