College commitment to Raise the Age
20 Feb 2025
Policy
The College is continuing our engagement with the Raise the Age (RTA) campaign with representatives attending the RTA General Members Meeting on 26 February.
We’re committed to raising the age in line with best evidence based psychiatric and neurodevelopmental consensus on youth justice. Our ongoing advocacy aims to ensure that young people are given the mental health and social support they need rather than being funnelled into the justice system.
Led by the Section for Child and Adolescent Forensic Psychiatry Committee, the College recently made a submission to the Inquiry into Australia’s Youth Justice and Incarceration System.
