AMA guidelines on informed financial consent

Due to reports of high consumer fees for the provision of ADHD services, the College would like to highlight the importance of informed financial consent. The College has endorsed the Australian Medical Association Guidelines on informed financial consent since 2020.

Equity of access for ADHD services was one of the key features of the College’s submission and evidence to the Inquiry into the barriers to consistent, timely and best practice assessment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and support services for people with ADHD.

The affordability of services for patients of all socio-economic levels is paramount to providing equitable access to mental health care services. The College will continue advocacy to ensure that mental health services are equitable and accessible for all people in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.
