PIF NZ members to 2025 RANZCP NZ Faculty of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Conference
The PIF invites eligible New Zealand PIF members to apply for a scholarship to attend the 2025 RANZCP Faculty of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in the Tongariro Lodge, Turangi, Tuesday 25 – Friday 27 March 2025.
Two (2) scholarships are on offer and include:
- Full Conference Registration to the value of $980 Registration Fee, which includes full 2 days conference program for Wednesday 26 March and Thursday 27 March, and 2 nights’ accommodation.
- Reimbursement of up to $1000 for travel support costs to and from the Conference in Turangi.
Each PIF NZ Scholarship offers up to the value of $2,000 for the FCAP Conference registration, accommodation and travel support.
To apply for this scholarship, you must be:
- medical students or postgraduate year 1 and 2 doctors; or postgraduate year 3+ doctor excluding those who are trainees and Fellows of another speciality; and
- a current PIF member or have an eligible PIF application pending.
New Zealand PIF members who identify as Māori or Pasifika are strongly encouraged to apply.

Terms & Conditions
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be a current RANZCP PIF member (or have their application pending);
- Be based in New Zealand;
- medical students or postgraduate year 1 and 2 doctors; or postgraduate year 3+ doctor excluding those who are trainees and Fellows of another speciality; and
- Commit to attending full 2-days from Wednesday 26 to Thursday 27 March 2025.
Eligibility for the scholarship will be assessed and is awarded at the discretion of the PIF Selection Panel.
Travel Expenses
PIF will reimburse up to $1,000 NZD per scholarship to support travel costs for travel to and from the Conference in Turangi. Proof of receipts (e.g., flight, taxis or road travel mileage costs) will be required as evidence to claim any reimbursement request.
Meals outside of the conference program are not included in this sponsorship.
Applicants acknowledge that:
- incidental costs associated with travel and attendance at Congress, including additional baggage, will not be included and are the responsibility of the successful applicant;
- any additional nights’ accommodation outside of the Conference dates (25 March – 28 March 2025) are entirely the responsibility of the scholarship recipient and will not be covered by the scholarship grant unless approved prior; and
- meals and other in-hotel entertainment or other expenses outside of the Conference program (e.g., minibar purchases) will not be covered by the scholarship grant and must be paid for by the applicant incurring that cost.
How to apply
Applicants are required to submit a written statement up to a maximum of 150 words addressing the following application criteria:
- Why they would like to attend this conference.
- How attendance at this conference may benefit and/or influence their medical career aspirations.
Applications must be submitted electronically via the online application form by Friday 28 February. Applications received after this time will not be accepted.
Selection
The PIF Selection Panel will assess the applications based on the application criteria and determine the successful applicants. Decisions of the PIF Selection Panel are final.
Successful applicants will be notified via email in early April 2025 and are expected to confirm their acceptance of a scholarship in writing by the required deadline. Scholarship recipients are expected to obtain any necessary approvals or leave they require from their university, employer or similar in order to attend the full conference program.
The PIF Selection Panel may award further scholarships at a later time at its discretion.
Acceptance
In the event that a successful applicant is unable to attend, or a successful applicant does not communicate their acceptance of the scholarship before the required deadline, the PIF Selection Panel may elect to award that scholarship to another eligible applicant.
By accepting a scholarship, the recipient provides their consent to the RANZCP to publicise the names of the successful applicants, their location and their university or workplace in RANZCP communications, including notifying a student’s university of the scholarship award.
Insurance
Participants are strongly advised to secure appropriate travel and health insurance. The sponsorship and delegate registration fee do not provide any such insurance coverage. The RANZCP PIF, Organising Committee and the Conference Office accept no responsibility for any loss in this regard.
Photography and recording
Images and/or voices of attendees may be recorded during the conference for use in RANZCP website, communications and media, including social media. If you do not wish for your image or voice to be publicised, please email pif@ranzcp.org.
Evaluation
Sponsorship recipients will be required to submit a short reflection on their attendance at the event.
