In-personThe Faculty of Consultation–Liaison Psychiatry 2025 Conference will focus on the vital intersections of mind and body in our practice. This conference will feature a robust scientific program with presentations and workshops exploring the latest research on psychosomatic medicine, the impact of mental health on physical illness, and the psychiatric sequelae of trauma. Our discussions will cover practical strategies for managing complex cases, improving patient outcomes, and fostering collaboration between psychiatric and medical disciplines.
In addition to the scientific sessions, the conference will offer valuable opportunities for social interaction and networking, where you can connect with fellow psychiatrists who share your interest in the mind-body connection and the effects of trauma on mental health. These gatherings are designed to facilitate the exchange of ideas, experiences, and best practices, helping us all to enhance our skills and knowledge in these critical areas. We look forward to your participation and to advancing our collective understanding of the interplay between mental and physical health.

Conference program
The Organising Committee is currently curating a dynamic program which will be published online in the coming months.
The conference will commence on Thursday 12 June with a full day of sessions, followed by a cocktail reception on Thursday evening welcoming delegates to Noosa. The scientific program will continue Friday morning with a full day of sessions. The conference will conclude early Saturday afternoon after a morning of sessions and a late lunch.

Dr Annette Webb
Dr Annette Webb graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1993. She then trained as a general paediatrician and then subsequently subspecialised as a paediatric gastroenterologist. She worked as a paediatric gastroenterologist at the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH), Monash Children’s Hospital (MCH) and Cabrini Medical Centre. At RCH she was clinician lead of the functional bowel clinics, in the Department of Gastroenterology at RCH. She has also had formal training in child and adolescent psychiatry, clinical hypnotherapy and psychodynamic psychotherapy having trained at the Austin Hospital, CAMHS.
Annette was awarded a Doctor of Medicine (M.D) for her work researching novel therapies (gut focused hypnotherapy) for Adolescents with Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). To undertake this research, she was awarded MCRI and NHMRC postgraduate scholarships.
Annette has also trained in Integrative Medicine and was the Foundation Director of Paediatric Integrative Medicine at the National Institute of Integrative Medicine, Melbourne. She has also recently completed a fellowship in Lifestyle Medicine.
Annette currently has an appointment at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in the Department of Gastroenterology, where she runs a complex psych-gastro Gut Focused Hypnotherapy Clinic. Annette now sees patients in her private practice throughout the whole of life, from early childhood to late adulthood. She is also actively engaging in research projects in clinical hypnotherapy at the RMH.
Annette is the current President of the Australian Society of Hypnosis (ASH), Victorian Branch, having been the Federal President of ASH until the end of 2023.

Cara Davidson
Cara Davidson is a 4th year PhD Candidate at Western University in the Department of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. She specializes in women’s health research with an emphasis on gender-based violence, health equity, and trauma- and violence-informed care.
Her doctoral work explores gender-based violence as a social determinant of health among Canadian women experiencing breast cancer. She is also developing a trauma- and violence-informed care tool for use in clinical breast cancer settings with patients who have experienced gender-based violence. The tool aims to empower healthcare providers to individualize patient care and prevent re-traumatization, which has strong potential to improve health equity among this patient population.
Cara is supported by the Canada Graduate Scholarship from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.

Jacqueline Huber cheerfully (mostly) wrangles an Emergency Psychiatry team at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney, is Chair of the Australia and New Zealand Emergency Psychiatry Network and the RANZCP ED Steering Group, and is a PhD student at the University of Sydney, researching Psychiatric Emergency Care Centres and inpatient interventions for suicidality—mostly in an attempt to justify her caffeine intake.
She’s absolutely chuffed to be speaking at the Faculty of Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Conference. Originally trained as a Psychogeriatrician, she’s always had considerable respect for Consultation Liaison Psychiatrists, who seem to thrive on complexity rather than just quietly panicking like the rest of us.
She looks forward to diving into the messy, fascinating world of Emergency Psychiatry with you—hopefully without too many embarrassing overshares—and then making up for it with a few drinks by the beach. Noosa’s meant to be gorgeous. Martini anyone?

Abstract submission
Abstracts are now invited. If you wish to submit an abstract for consideration by the Organising Committee, you must also intend to register for the conference. Please follow the instructions carefully to ensure your abstract is submitted correctly.

Presentation type
When submitting an abstract, please indicate whether you wish for it to be considered for an oral or poster presentation. An oral presentation should include time for questions and may highlight research findings, clinical case experience, or another topic of interest to the conference theme.
How to submit your abstract
Abstract submission is a two-step process:

Create an account via the abstract submission portal and upload your abstract.
Please note:
- All abstracts must be prepared according to the guidelines provided. Incomplete or incorrect submissions will be returned to the author and must be re-submitted immediately in the correct format to be considered for inclusion in the program.
- Abstract submission will close at 11.59 pm AEDT on Friday 28 February 2025.
Abstract speaker registration
The invitation to submit an abstract does not constitute an offer to pay travel, accommodation or registration costs associated with the conference. Similarly, no presenter fee is paid to successful participants.
All presenters must register for the conference in order for the presentation to be included in the program.
The Faculty of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Advanced Trainee Abstract Prize
This prize is awarded to a trainee in consultation–liaison psychiatry for the best oral, rapid fire or poster presentation made at the Faculty of Consultation–Liaison Psychiatry conference.
The prize includes A$1500; a framed award certificate; and an invitation to accept the award at the College Ceremony during Congress.
Eligibility: The prize is open to RANZCP Associate members (trainees) undertaking RANZCP advanced training in consultation–liaison psychiatry at the time of abstract submission opening for the Faculty of Consultation–Liaison Psychiatry’s scientific meeting. The prize is not open to Fellows-in-training.
Assessment process: A panel of Faculty members will assess the presentations during the conference. The winning presentation will be acknowledged during the closing of the conference.

Cancellation policy
Delegate cancellation - change of mind
All requests for cancellation must be made in writing and sent to events@ranzcp.org. Cancellations received before 6 May 2025 will incur a $75.00 administration fee. No refunds will be issued after this date. However, an alternative delegate name may be submitted. All cancellations and substitutions must be made in writing to events@ranzcp.org.
Refunds will be returned by the same payment method as the original receipt of funds.
Please note no refund or discount will be made if a function or event inclusive within the registration fee is not taken up, or if you subsequently cancel your participation in that function or event.
In the case of extenuating circumstances, a refund outside of these terms and conditions may be considered by, and at the discretion of, the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) upon application.
Delegate cancellation - medical
The health and safety of conference attendees is our highest priority. The RANZCP is mindful of the health risks posed by COVID-19, and the importance of following official medical advice with respect to social distancing, practicing good hygiene and staying at home when unwell. The RANZCP requests that any delegate who is feeling unwell or has cold or flu-like symptoms, or who may have been in contact with someone with COVID-19, not attend the conference.
If, on medical grounds, you are unable to attend the conference, you must cancel your attendance in writing by email to events@ranzcp.org. A full refund will be provided; however, you may be asked to provide additional details.
Conference cancellation
The RANZCP may cancel or postpone the conference due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to Acts of God, terrorism, war, strikes or industrial action, fire, explosion, inevitable accident, breakdown of property, changes in law, or pandemics or global health crises. Due to the nature of the event, it may be reasonable to postpone the event to a later year and/or to change the location of the conference.
In the event of postponement of the conference, if, when requested, you advise that you are willing to attend the rescheduled conference, the RANZCP will transfer the registration and guarantee the same conditions and equivalent registration entitlements (subject to reasonable modification and availability) at the rescheduled event. If, at a later date, you then choose not to attend the rescheduled conference, the RANZCP will not be required to refund any part of the conference registration fee.
In the event of a full cancellation of the conference by the RANZCP, you will be entitled to a full refund of the amount of the conference registration fee received.
The maximum liability of the RANZCP under these Terms and Conditions is limited to a refund of the conference registration fee with no additional liability for travel costs, hotel costs, or any other associated costs.

Health and safety
All participants at the conference will be required to comply with the Health and Safety Guidelines and protocols in place with the venue/s and the conference which will be aligned and compliant with all relevant Commonwealth and state government health advice at that time. By registering for this event, the RANZCP reserves the right to provide your contact details to authorities for the purposes of contact tracing and any other relevant government requirements. Details of any relevant protocols and requirements will be communicated to delegates who will be bound by these requirements.
Insurance
Conference participants are strongly advised to secure appropriate travel and health insurance. The RANZCP and the conference Organising Committee accept no responsibility for any loss in this regard.
Privacy policy
The RANZCP will only collect personal information from individuals when it is reasonably necessary for the activities of the RANZCP, and all such collection will be subject to the RANZCP Privacy Policy and any other notifications.
