Dr Jane Turner
Jane Turner worked for 30 years as a consultaton-liaison psychiatrist in oncology. She has extensive experience in the development and implementation of clinical practice guidelines and communication skills training and was responsible for the teaching of Psychiatry in the Medical Program of the University of Queensland for over 25 years.
She served as President of the International Psycho-Oncology Society (IPOS) and chaired the IPOS-WHO committee which aimed to promote psychosocial care and build workforce capacity in low and middle-income countries. She has held roles in the Clinical Oncology Society of Australia (COSA) including membership of the Executive Committee and Chair of the Psychosocial Oncology Group.
She has had numerous roles with Cancer Australia, the Breast Cancer Network of Australia and the Psycho-Oncology Cooperative Research Group, as well as Melanoma Patients Australia.
Her research has focused on the impact of advanced cancer on patients and families, and models of psychosocial care in cancer.
