2nd year medical student, University of Tasmania

Attending the PIF Retreat was an incredibly enjoyable and enriching experience. I particularly appreciated learning about the Dax Centre and its powerful use of art to explore mental health. Hearing the lived experiences of people with mental illnesses was eye-opening and deeply moving. It reminded me of the importance of empathy, listening, and creating safe spaces for healing and support.

This PIF Retreat has significantly strengthened my interest in psychiatry. It has helped me see the specialty not only through a clinical lens, but also through a deeply human one. I now feel more inspired and motivated to pursue psychiatry in the future, and I will certainly look into applying for the training program when I become eligible.

The insights I gained from this PIF Retreat will stay with me throughout my studies. They’ve given me a broader, more compassionate perspective; one that I know will shape my approach to patient care and help me become a better medical professional.
