Dr Katie Nirven
Dr Katie Niven is a WA-trained Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist. She is of Aboriginal descent through her mother’s family, who are from the Dharawal/Yuin nations. She is currently the Clinical Lead for the Child & Adolescent Forensic Service (CAFS) and the Banksia Hill Detention Centre (BHDC) Neurodevelopmental & Mental Health Service (NDMHS), both of which are in the early stages of operation. Her roles combine clinical, research and service development work, as well as representation in state and national forums including the WA Youth Radicalisation Roundtable, BHDC Operating Philosophy and Model of Care consultation and the National Mental Health Service Planning Framework (NMHSPF) Forensic Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander model.
