Update on one-to-one interviews and report timeline

The Mood Disorders Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Evidence Review Steering Group (Steering Group) is continuing its work with the Anna Freud Centre (AFC), who were appointed by the College in October 2023 to conduct a review into the evidence for long-term psychodynamic psychotherapy (LTPP) in the treatment of mood disorders.

Recruitment of consumer, carers and health professionals to share their experience of long-term psychodynamic psychotherapy treatment for mood disorders has now been completed, with all interviews scheduled to take place by end July 2024. Thank you everyone who participated or shared this opportunity.

The interviews that have taken place will undergo thematic analysis which together with the systematic literature reviews of both qualitative and quantitative data will inform the report from the AFC to the College.

It is anticipated that the report will be made available to the Steering Group by end August 2024. It will then undergo review by the Steering Group and in line with College governance processes, prior to seeking approval from the Board. Members will be updated following consideration by the Board, which is anticipated to take place in September 2024.

Publication of the report and any associated resources will be informed by a dissemination and implementation plan that will consider the report in the context of the Mood Disorder Clinical Practice Guidelines, the resolutions from Members’ Requisition General Meeting (MRGM), and the College’s future approach to development of Best Practice Resources

Updates on the project will continue to be provided via the Mood Disorders Hub
