Transformative changes to Formal Education Courses

Trainee news
In March 2023, the College commissioned Curio Group to conduct an independent review into the access, cost and variability in content and delivery of Formal Education Courses (FEC). Working alongside a steering group consisting of College Fellows and trainees, Curio Group performed a comprehensive review including interviews, workshops with trainees and Directors of Training, and a survey inviting all College members to share their feedback.
Based on these findings, the RANZCP is embarking on a three-year project to transform the FEC experience for psychiatry trainees. The new FEC is expected to launch at the beginning of 2027. There will be no change to the delivery of FECs over the next three years while the redevelopment is undertaken.
This project reflects the College’s commitment to providing trainees with the best possible education and empowering future psychiatrists to excel. There will be ongoing consultation with all stakeholders and members as we progress this work.
Further information and FAQs will soon be updated on the College website. Enquires can be emailed to fec@ranzcp.org.
