PIF member Dr Charles Thomas recently attended the RANZCP 2024 Faculty of Adult Psychiatry Conference as a PIF scholar
"Attending the RANZCP 2024 Faculty of Adult Psychiatry Conference on a PIF scholarship was a great experience that broadened my understanding of what a future career in psychiatry might entail, especially after applying to the RANZCP NSW training program this year.
The lectures, workshops, and health debates with psychiatrists from diverse backgrounds on key topics like ADHD, workforce shortages, and the RANZCP training program provided valuable insights into what training and working in both private and public psychiatry could look like in the future.
In addition to engaging with psychiatrists, I also had the chance to connect with fellow PIF members, who may become future colleagues. It was a great opportunity to discuss career aspirations with individuals at various stages of their training, from a second-year medical student to myself as a PGY5 doctor.
I look forward to attending further conferences and building on connections and relationships made through this opportunity through PIF".
