RANZCP's Federal Pre-budget submission Australia
12 Dec 2024
Policy
The College has finalised the annual pre-budget submission to inform the 2025–26 Australian Federal Budget currently set for release in May.
The submission highlights severe workforce shortages, a rising demand for care, and the impact of cost-of-living pressures which leave many without the support they urgently need. The College calls for immediate and sustainable investment to strengthen and expand the psychiatry workforce.
Building on the College's prior year recommendations, the submission reflects the Federal Government’s National Mental Health Workforce Strategy 2022-2032, and urges implementation of the strategy’s recommendations to address the ongoing workforce gap, and ensure timely access to care for all Australians.
This pre-budget submission is just one part of the College's broader advocacy efforts across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand this year.
Thank you to the many members who contributed to its development.
