The RANZCP is pleased to support NAIDOC Week (7–14 July) that celebrates and recognises the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This week from 7–14 July is National NAIDOC Week. Celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year to recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This year’s theme chosen by the National NAIDOC Committee, is Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud & Proud. The theme honours the enduring strength and vitality of First Nations culture – with fire a symbol of connection to Country, to each other, and to the rich tapestry of traditions that define Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Chanelle Martin, the RANZCP Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Mental Health Liaison Officer, is a proud Wathawurrung woman currently living on Yuin country. She shares with us what NAIDOC Week, and the theme means to her.
The RANZCP is proud to have recently launched our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan 2024–2026. It is the continuation of our commitment to increase meaningful engagement, to call out misinformation and discrimination, and to enable our First Nations voices to truly be heard.
Wherever you live, you can take part in NAIDOC Week celebrations and learn more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.
