Our guest speakers are Professor Phillipa Hay and Dr Thomas Nguyen whose biographies follow the video.

Professor Phillipa Hay
Professor Phillipa Hay is a leading mental health researcher, educator, and practicing Psychiatrist. She has a DPhil in Psychiatry from the University of Oxford and MD (Medicine) from University of Otago, is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) and Fellow of the Academy for Eating Disorders (AED). She is widely published and cited and is regularly invited to speak at national and international scientific meetings. Her research has been translational, guiding policy and practice. Awards include the 2015 Lifetime Leadership Award from the ANZ Academy for Eating Disorders, and the 2020 RANZCP Senior Research Award. Not least she also has laid the foundations for mental health programs in two new medical schools James Cook and Western Sydney.

Dr Thomas Nguyen
Thomas is currently a junior doctor based in NSW and will begin Stage 1 psychiatry training next year in Victoria. He is also a Conjoint Associate Lecturer at the School of Medicine, Western Sydney University as well as a Research Assistant in the Discipline of Psychiatry & Mental Health at UNSW Sydney. Thomas has research interests in refugee mental health, transcultural psychiatry as well as child & adolescent psychiatry. He has published in leading journals such as The Lancet Child & Adolescent Health and was formerly a ThinkSwiss Research Scholar based at the Universitäre Psychiatrische Dienste (UPD) Bern, Switzerland.
