New Editor for the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry

Queensland Fellow Professor Steve Kisely has been appointed as the next Editor of the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Psychiatry (ANZJP).

Professor Kisely is a psychiatrist and public health physician with health services research experience in the UK, Australia and Canada. He has a strong research and publishing history as well as Associate Editor, Handling Editor and Statistics Editor experience across multiple journals, and he chaired the RANZCP’s Journals Committee between 2017 and 2024.

First published in 1967, the ANZJP enjoys a strong international standing and more than 970,000 articles are downloaded annually. All RANZCP members receive full-text access to the ANZJP via the College website and monthly new issue alerts.

In September, Professor Kisely will take over the role from Professor Chris Davey, who has been Editor of the ANZJP since 2021. The College thanks Professor Davey for his substantial contributions during his time as Editor, and for his commitment to maintaining the ANZJP’s position as the leading psychiatry journal of the Asia-Pacific region.

With Professor Kisely’s new appointment, he will also conclude his time on the College’s Board of Directors in September. A further announcement will soon be made regarding the next steps in appointing a new Board Director (casual vacancy).

The College congratulates Professor Kisely on his new appointment and looks forward to seeing the continued success of the ANZJP under his leadership.
