The Faculty of Adult Psychiatry 2024 Conference Organising Committee is pleased to offer members on-demand access to presentations from the first ever joint conference in collaboration with the Section of Private Practice Psychiatry and ADHD Network. 

The theme of breaking down silos was driven by the Faculty of Adult Psychiatry and emphasises the importance of collaboration and shared learning within the groups. This conference also marked a significant milestone for both the Section of Private Practice Psychiatry (SPPP) and ADHD Network as their first dedicated conference.

Program

Dr Margaret Kay AM delivered an enlightening keynote presentation addressing the critical topic of doctors' health, exploring its implications for the workforce of the future.

Keynote speaker Alexander Lim presented on his innovative ketamine program, shedding light on its effectiveness for treating treatment resistant PTSD and its significant implications for the private sector.

Invited speakers highlighted key clinical challenges in psychiatry across Australia and New Zealand offering valuable insights into different aspects of adult psychiatry. Key topics included women’s mental health; emergency department medicine; private practice research; College CPD requirements; ADHD, including mental health treatments; and ADHD coaching. 

The conference concluded with a thought-provoking panel discussion that focused on the unique challenges faced by private inpatient services and their subsequent impact on the public sector.
