Dr James Smith
Dr Smith is a UK qualified specialist psychiatrist in intellectual disability. He is now based in Sydney and is the clinical lead for the Statewide Intellectual Disability Mental Health Outreach Service in New South Wales. He also works rurally in Dubbo, NSW. His interests include service development in intellectual disability mental health, frameworks of care for challenging behaviours, and demantia in intellectual disability. He has presented research internationally on the inequalities faced by people with intellectual disability. He works in urban and rural Australia and continues to advocate for equal access to healthcare for vulnerable populations.
