You are invited to attend a Tasmanian CME dinner lecture on Neurofunctional Disorder presented by Professor Richard Kanaan.

Conversion disorder was a pariah even amongst psychiatric conditions; as Functional Neurological Disorder it is a disorder transformed. Professor Kanaan will chart the changes, and constants, in our understanding of this foundational disorder.

Professor Richard Kanaan studied mathematics and philosophy in Oxford and Los Angeles, before training in medicine and psychiatry in London. He was a clinician and academic at the Maudsley Hospital/Institute of Psychiatry in London until he was appointed Chair of Psychiatry at Austin Hospital, and Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Melbourne in 2013. His special interests include functional syndromes, schizophrenia and the philosophy of psychiatry. He started the first functional neurology clinic at King's College Hospital in London, and the first functional neurology clinic at Austin Health in Melbourne.

$59.95 (free for trainees)

*This event is free for Tasmanian trainees to attend. Those who don't attend on the night will be invoiced for the cost of the meal ($59.95), unless there are extenuating circumstances. If you are no longer able to attend, you must advise ranzcp.tas@ranzcp.org before 6 August 2024, and you won't be charged.

This is an in-person event. If you are unable to attend in person i.e., for members in the north / north west of the state, there will be an option to view the event via live stream. Please note, as this is an in-person event, attendees will have the priority and their questions addressed first, if there is time, questions may be taken from the online audience.

Change of mind cancellations must be made in writing and sent to ranzcp.tas@ranzcp.org for a full refund by 6 August. Cancellations made after 6 August 2023 will not refunded.
