Specialist Training Program (STP) in Psychiatry

STP-matrix-rectangle.jpgThe Specialist Training Program (STP) is an Australian Government initiative that provides funding to health organisations to support specialist medical training experiences in settings beyond traditional public teaching hospitals.

The RANZCP participates in this program as part of its commitment to expanding training opportunities for specialist trainees. 

Note: Australian Government funded Specialist Training Program (STP) posts are only open to current RANZCP trainees and Specialist International Medical Graduates on the pathway to RANZCP Fellowship.

Expression of Interest (EOI)

The Department of Health (DoH) are opening an EOI round for new posts to be funded through STP. It is anticipated the EOI will open from mid-October for four weeks. Further information, including dates will be communicated once these are finalised.
The priority settings for this EOI round are:

  • The Private health sector
  • Regional, rural and remote areas
  • Expanded settings

The Department’s new STP Operational Framework contains more information regarding the EOI and priority settings. This is available on the DoH’s website.
Successful posts will be contracted from Rotation 1, 2020.
